Artist Statement: "I’m a perfumer and visual artist. I first began creating scents inspired by my own experience of synesthesia ("seeing" scent). My first fragrances appeared alongside my paintings in gallery exhibitions.
"I established Bruno Fazzolari Scents to offer my fragrances outside of the exclusive gallery setting. The line quickly attracted the attention of critics and fragrance lovers alike. Artforum named it a "Top Ten" for 2013. In 2014, Luca Turin gave Lampblack a four-star review. The line has received extensive press including coverage in the style sections of the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
I am entirely self-taught. I believe in scents that are striking and beautiful—yet also a little classic. As an independent, I'm free of the compromises of focus groups and marketing budgets. I encourage you to try the adventurous yet classic Lampblack, or the luscious and complex Monserrat—both named after colors I use in my paintings."
