Alex Zecca was born in San Francisco in 1970, and studied art at California College of the Arts and in Italy before earning his MFA at The San Francisco Art Institute in Painting (1996). His work’s central focus continues to be on Process. The new drawings are a result of a specific, cumulative action, and precise methodology. They are repeating sequences of steadied, handmade inked lines. The system is executed upon a specific disciplined action, and is an exercise in precision and focus. Color, mixing, reaction and saturation, as well as sequence and systems are the visual dialogue central to his work’s focus.
